BIOGRAPHY

I got introduced to ABA therapy in 2008 by Dan and Lorri Unumb in 2008. My initial training started in Charleston, South Carolina under BCBA Melissa Ruge, who has continued to be a wonderful resource and wealth of knowledge throughout my career. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work under Dr. Eric Larsson of the Lovass Institute, take private tours of some of the top autism schools in the nation, including Princeton Child Development Institute and the Vista School (Pennsylvania), attend countless workshops and conferences, and most recently, work closely with Dan Unumb and Tim Courtney assisting in coordinating their “Autism and the Law” workshops. I began my undergrad at the University South Carolina in Columbia, SC. While in South Carolina, I worked part time as a therapist doing 1:1 while going to school. I moved to Miami and finished my bachelor’s degree at Florida International University. I am now pursuing my Master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis at Ball State University (graduating August 2019!) I started my journey with FreshStarts in October of 2014 and worked as a therapist doing 1:1 until April 2018 when I began working full time in our office. In August 2017, Jennifer Salazar (our clinical director) and I, co-authored a 5-day staff training comprised of what we felt were the 5 “critical skills” in ABA that therapists needed to master before going out into the field with clients. We built it off the Behavioral Skills Training model and have seen a lot of growth in our new and pre-existing staff that have attended the training in the last year and half. In addition to training staff, I also interview potential hires, as well as go out in the field to perform Quality Assurance Checks. Quality Assurance Checks are a way to ensure that the quality of services we are providing to our clients, to the parents, and to our staff are to our ever-growing standard. I am proud to be a part of the progress of this company and look forward to supporting many others as they begin or continue their career in ABA with us and help lead our clients to life changing breakthroughs.
